Microgaming started February 2016 in style by winning the ‘Innovator of the Year’ award at IGA 2016 (the International Gaming Awards). It was Microgaming’s VR Roulette that ensured them success on the evening of February 1st. This innovative game also helped them pick up the coveted ‘Digital Gaming Innovation’ award at the 2015 Global Gaming Awards.
The following day, February 2nd, ICE Totally Gaming got underway and VR Roulette was showcased at the Microgaming CRYO lab at ExCeL London. On this same day Microgaming also received an official Guinness World Records® certificate from Guinness World Records adjudicator, Pravin Patel. Microgaming received this certificate in recognition of UK player Jonathon Heywood’s world record breaking £13,213,838.68 progressive jackpot win (approx. AU$26.7 million).
This incredible win occurred back in October 2016 at Betway Casino and was officially recognised by Guinness in December as the ‘Largest Jackpot Payout in an Online Slot Machine Game’. The winner, from Cheshire, England, placed a £0.25 (AU$0.50) bet on the Mega Moolah jackpot pokie and he ended up winning an incredible 52 million times his bet. “It was fantastic to welcome Jon to our stand at ICE for the official Guinness World Records certificate handover,” said the Microgaming CEO, Roger Raatgever.
He continued, “Having spent some time with him today, I can honestly say it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. We’re proud to share the world record and look forward to creating our next jackpot millionaire.” The lucky winner also commented on his life-changing win, saying, “It’s been a few months since the win, but I still can’t quite believe I won such a life-changing amount! And to officially become a Guinness World Records title holder is the icing on the cake.”
He added, “With my winnings I’ve enjoyed some nice holidays, bought a new car, ensured my family are looked after and invested wisely for the future. It’s been incredible.” On February 3rd, Microgaming released a couple of brand new online pokies and they also announced that they had started work on the new Jurassic World online pokie after signing a new licensing agreement with Universal Brand Development.
The two new pokies that were recently launched included Dragon Dance and Bikini Party (both have 5 reels and 243 ways to win per spin). “Our February game add-on shows our continued commitment to deliver dual-release games, enabling players to be entertained wherever they decide to play and on whichever device they choose,” said Microgaming’s Head of Product Channels, Neill Whyte.
You can play on these new pokies right now either instantly in your web browser, from your smartphone or tablet device, or from within Microgaming’s award-winning download client at Casino Mate, Jackpot City Casino, Royal Vegas Casino and Ruby Fortune Casino. Also keep an eye out for the new SunTide pokie and the new Wild Orient pokie, both of which should be available at these same casinos towards the beginning of March.
